Ithaca (NY) Journal Wednesday, 27 January 1926 Mrs. Cora Odell Burghardt Mrs. Cora Odell Burghardt, 58, died at 3 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, January 26, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Fortner at Dryden, of pernicious anemia, after a two month's illness, The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock, on Friday afternoon, January 29, from the home of her daughter in Dryden. Rev. W. F. Crane, pastor of the Dryden Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Willow Glen Cemetery. She leaves her husband - Charles; one daughter - Mrs. Louis Fortner of Dryden; one sister - Mrs. Elizabeth Hart of Syracuse; and one brother - David of Odell of Salamanca. ========== Cora (Odell) Burghardt was the sister of my great-grandmother Mary Elizabeth (Odell) Hart and the youngest child of George and Sarah (Congdon) Odell. My great-grandaunt Cora's husband, Charles Burghardt, was the brother of Alice Amelia Burghardt, wife of my great-granduncle David Odell. I'm surprised no mention of her brother Eugene, who died in 1949 in Skaneateles, NY is made. Eugene is listed among the survivors in both David's obit in 1929 and my great-grandmother's obit in 1933. Since their brothers George and Charles are not listed in any of the obits, I've pushed their known death dates to bef. 1926. However, I believe I have sufficient other evidence that Charles died in 1914 (that's all the date I have) and is buried in Lake View Cemetery, Ithaca, NY. ========== Bill Hart
