RYAN FREEVILLE - Mary L. Ryan, age 95, of 380 West Dryden Road, Freeville, passed away Friday, September 28, 2007, at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca, NY. Born December 2, 1911 at Caroline, NY, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Laura Armstrong Crispell. Mary was a longtime resident of Slaterville Springs, NY and later relocated to Newfield before moving to West Dryden Road. She was employed for many years at Wilcox Press. On August 26th, 1938, she was married to Dennis J. Ryan, Sr. who passed away June 23, 1973. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and sewing. Mary was a wonderful mother who was always giving of herself and helping her family. Survivors include her children, Loraine Wood of Freeville, Peggy Houghton of Skaneateles, Beverly (Charles) Baker of Auburn, Dennis J. (Mary) Ryan, Jr. of Trumansburg, Gordon (Jane) Ryan of Ithaca; two sisters, Mildred Klaver of Marion, NY and Elaine Genung of Slaterville Springs; a daughter-in-law, Betty Pierce of Slaterville Springs; many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Arthur Pierce; her siblings, Clara Brown. Lawrence Crispell and Carol White; two grandchildren, Judy Baker and Katherine Wood; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Ryan. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2007, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Foote of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Caroline Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
