    2. Patty, I wish you knew more about Elmira Bishop. You said she was born in 1837 and possibly married a Hammond. I have an Elmira D. ? in my family tree born 1837, but married George M. Ross. I don't know her maiden name. All I know is that she was born 1837 in New York and died 1896 in New York and had 10 kids. Also, that her name was definitely Elmira and not Almira as the census records sometimes show. The family says she was named after the town of Elmira, NY. One of Elmira and George's grandchildren married into the Clark family. I guess I'm just wishing for a connection, but could there be a possibility? Michelle in Texas

    3. I sure wish that I knew more also. The tombstone is in Green Hills Cemetery in Dryden, NY. It is part of the family stone......It just shows Elmira Bishop Hammon.(not Hammond) Birthdate of 1832, but no death date. She could very well been named after a town here in New York, because Elmira is just a short way from the Dryden/Ithaca area. Maybe she's not there at all, and was divorced from the Hammon spouse. As I said, it's a family stone and so her name could have been put there when the stones were made.........I've heard of that happening. When I brought up the web page for Green Hills, she's not listed, so I would sooner believe that she's on the stone, but not buried there. -----Original Message----- From: nytompki-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nytompki-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Mlkquilts@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, December 27, 2006 1:41 PM To: nytompki@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYTOMPKI] Graves, Bishop, Hammon, Head, Clark Patty, I wish you knew more about Elmira Bishop.
