The 1855 Census is on the Schuyler County Rootsweb site. Again, you will only find the Town of Hector and the parts of the Town of Catharine which was once part of Newfield in Tompkins. There are no other Tompkins County records at the county clerks office in Watkins Glen. Trust me, I have researched there in person a lot and I grew up there and lived there for years. If your ancestor lived in those areas of Tompkins County, i.e: Hector or part of Newfield. then you are in luck, otherwise, sadly, there are no 1855 census records. This is because those townships were annexed from Tompkins County when the Schuyler County was formed in 1854. Marsha E. They do indeed have the 1855 State census encompassing what was then Tompkins county on microfiche in their office. Alas, they do not have anyone who can research it and you must visit their office to use it. As I live in Seattle, WA, is anyone aware of someone in the area who would be willing to look through it for me?
