My gggg grandfather was Daniel Lambertson who was born in 1827, married Delia Louw (sp?) who was born in 1828 - they had 8 children: William Henry, Sarah Etta, Lucy, John Fremont, Monte, Carrie, Nettie, and Mary. To my knowledge Nettie and Mary were born in Michigan but I believe all the rest born in NY (Carrie born 1865). Have you tried contacting Cornell? They do have some regional genealogical materials at Olin Library. You also might try researching PERSI (Allen Library in Indiana). I've received very early marriage or obituary records from there re. Ithaca area newspapers. Also the D.A.R. inventoried many cemeteries and other records in the early 20th century. They are located online at http://www.dar.org You can order photocopies from them even if you are not a member. Surnames: Wooby, Woobey Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4RB.2ACE/3115 Message Board Post: I am researching an African American family with surname of Wooby/Woobey/Woby which settled in Wayne County, NY in the 1830s. Am trying to track John Porter Wooby, born about 1866 in Lyons, NY. Found an obit in a Syracuse paper for a Mrs. Jane Wooby, died in Ithaca in March 1955, widow of John P. Wooby [do not know if this is the right John Porter Wooby]. Mrs. Wooby was buried from AME Zion Church with burial in family plot in City Cemetery. Obit indicated Mrs. Wooby had been resident of Ithaca for many years, and was survived by grandchildren and great granchildren. Have not been able to find her in any census. Have not located John P. Wooby in any census after 1892. Would appreciate any information on this family.
