Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4RB.2ACE/3137 Message Board Post: I need to find my marriage records, can you help me? My maiden name might be Elwell, or maybe even Southworth. I'm marrying Moses Whitcomb before 1831. After he dies and leaves me a widow in 1831. I may have married his brother, Sam Jr. in 1836 or 1837. Who would marry us? I've lived in Dryden for at least 10 years prior to marrying Moses. Where would we get married? I think we might have come from a Congregationalist church in VT before we came to Tompkins. Would there be any record of my marriages? And where would I have buried Moses? I know we lived in Dryden as I have the deeds to properties we bought and sold. And the Indenture for my first husband, Moses Whitcomb's, when Sam Jr. bought the property from me so I could pay off the debts of Moses. John Elwell was the Administator and I was the Administratrix for Moses' Indenture. and John Southworth was the witness and attested to who we were at court. I hope you can help me find out who I am and where I might have married. Thanks, Amanda, and eileen Cooper Yuma AZ

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4RB.2ACE/3128 Message Board Post: Hello, I am trying to locate parents for my 3rd gr/grandma CAROLINE HOOS, probably born in the 1770's. She married my 3rd gr/grandfather LAWRENCE HOOPER, b. abt. 1769 Saratoga, NY; d. 1829 in Ulysses, Tompkins County. Because of the lack of info on her in Tompkins Co, I belive she was probably not born there, and may have been born in Saratoga County like her husband. I am looking in Saratoga Co as well, but there may be some records that give her parents' names in Tompkins County. According to the 1840 Census she was living in Enfield then, and may have died there some time before 1850, as there seems to be no trace of her after 1840. The surname was probably VAN HOOS originally, or maybe VAN HUSUM, or possibly HOUSE/HOWSE. I would like more info on her husband's HOOPER line too; I have him back to his father STEPHEN HOOPER, who was a spy for the British during the revolution, then switched sides after being captured and jailed. There may have been strife within that family because of revolutionary issues (my theory). I have changed my email address to: updike58@sasktel.net Dale Updike Saskatchewan, Canada
