Surnames: LEWIS, GARRETT, BAKER, NORTON Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4RB.2ACE/3180 Message Board Post: Frank Grant LEWIS died 19 Nov 1945 Penn Yann, New York While researching my 5 Great Grandfather, Rev. Nathan Baker, I found the following letter in his Rev. War pension file: The American Baptist Historical Society Headquarters 1701 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia Library: Crozer Theological Seminary, Chester, PA. Chester, Pa., Sept. 20, 1923 U.S. Bureau of Pensions, Washington, D.C. Dear Sirs: You probably have papers connected with a pension claim made by Nathan Baker a Baptist minister who was born in New England, lived about thirty years in Pompey, Onondaga County, N.Y. , then seems to have removed to Monroe County, N.Y., where he is reported to have applied for a pension about 1832. (Hand written: of Woodbury Conn and Riga NY S12118 4 pages) You say also similar papers concerning a Nathan Baker who is said to have lived, perhaps enlisted from, West Stockbridge, mass., and say have remained there, but more probably removed to New York, perhaps into Onondaga County. (hand written: of Cheshere Mass and Watertown, NY S44322 or S44022 1 page) For use in a genealogical quest I need one photostat copy of any such papers as the above and shall be much obliged if you will let me know the amount to remit. With appreciation of your courtesy, Very truly yours, Frank G. Lewis Librarian Would like to know how or if Frank is related.

Surnames: Blain, Blaine, Dimick, Barnes Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4RB.2ACE/3179 Message Board Post: I have records of Otis James Blain (Blaine) up to 1900. Then he disappears. The Blaines were a family from Schyler, Ulysses and Trumansburg. Otis married Stella Dimick (Trumansburg) and it was recorded in the Methodist Church records. I wonder, however, if there are any records of Otis James Blain's death. He was my grandfather. Also sometime between 1900 and 1917 my father, Harold Otis changed his name from Blaine to Barnes. Anyone have any idea why he did that?
