It looks like a well or there could have been a spring present there. They could have then built the well surrounding it (as ornamental), and capped it off to re-channel the water. Only speculation ... Most of Central NY had air photos taken in 1938. These images are still available from the National Archives but now the National Archives has turned over duplication and copy to private business and the prices for such copies has gone from $5 per contact negative to $22. 1938 Air Photo prices FROM: King Visual Archives A duplicate negative 10 by 10 inches is $22.00 Scans 500 DPI $20 600 DPI $30 900 DPI $40 1,200 DPI $50 1,600 DPI $60 (16 bit) then there is a $9.50 "Pull Fee" that the National Archives charges. This is per can of film. So if all your requested images are on that one roll of film you pay one fee. If two cans are pulled you pay $19.00. Then there is a $15.00 charge per CD or DVD =========== King Visual Archives 2529-B Kenilworth Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20781 Public Orders:301-583-3533; Toll Free: 1-800-235-7009 Fax: 301-583-3535 E-mail: archives@kvt.com Internet: http://www.kvt.com

I am researching the Shade familes of America and have over 72,000 names in my file, mostly descendants of several Shade men that came from Germany in the 1700's and settled in Pennsylvania. If you send me vitals on your earliest known Shade ancestor, I will see if I can idenify your ancestry and get back to you. The Minister who started Holland, Mich. is a descendant of Jan van Raalte (Raelte) from Zwartsluis ca. 1645. Both family trees have been published in the Web and I believe there may be one or two more e.g. one family that started in Hattem. I am trying to find a link between Benjamin and Julia van Raalte and one of these families; since they are also Jewish I suspect they are related to my family. Regards, John
