    1. [NYTOMPKI] Lunger, Van Order, North
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: goodwin2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.tompkins/5110/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Some members of the North family mentioned below married into the Lunger and Van Order families in the Tompkins/Seneca County area. See note below re male occupations that seemed to link these families. James North, b. 1783 in NJ m. Lydia Raymond b. 1786 in MA James and Lydia moved to Seneca County, New York sometime in the early 1800s where they had eight [identified] children. This North line, for the most part, lived in Seneca and/or Tompkins County, New York. Several of the male descendants were carpenters or boat builders by trade and tended to marry into families with the same skills. I am interested in finding the descendants of George H. North, b. 1877 in Seneca County, New York, m. Margaret Unknown. They moved to Rhode Island and probably died there. Two children. This George H. was known to me as "Uncle George". I have a picture of him that I would be happy to share with a descendant. Handsome fellow. His son, also George H. b. Jan 1912 in MA, d. Aug 1995 in CA m. Katherine Unknown. His nickname was "Buster". I also have a picture of him that I would be happy to share with a descendant. Daughter of George, b. 1877 - Anna, b. 1914 in MA, m. Ralph Cataldo and lived in California in the 1960s. Four Cataldo children, Carol, Pat, Ralph and Robert - no dates for them. I haven't seen anyone on the message boards that seems to be looking at this line. Am hoping to share these pictures with a descendant before my kids thow out all the "Stuff" that they have no connection to. My association with this line is only that "a North" married my father's sister. It may be that most of this North line moved out of the Tompkins County area and current generations are unaware of any connection to this locale. WHERE ARE THE DIE HARD GENEALOGISTS LOOKING FOR UNCLE GEORGE? Always happy to share - many folks in the Seneca, Tompkins and Schuyler Counties of New York.
