    1. [NYTIOGA] Greiner/Griner and town of Berkshire in 1850s
    2. Seeking clues on the origins of John Greiner/Griner (b ~1829 NY; occupation = sawyer) whose wife was Anna (b ~1832 NJ). They had three daughters: Hortense GREINER/GRINER, b 1851 Celia A. GRINER, b 21 Mar 1853 Mary Elizabeth GRINER, b 28 Jun 1861 In 1870, this family lived in Wayne County, PA, where daughter Celia at age 20 married Henry Granville SHERWOOD of Preston Twp (PA), at Lake Como, Wayne Co., PA on 18 Mar 1873. The new couple then resided in Preston, PA. Very recently I discovered that Celia (who died 07 Nov 1879 per our family bible - although the place was not recorded) is buried in Evergreen Cemetery along Rte 38 south of Richford near Berkshire. Hence, I am thinking this Greiner family came earlier from Berkshire, Tioga, and that Celia possibly had grown up there. Any help or information on the surname Greiner/Griner in Tioga County would be appreciated.
