Her father's name was Walter John Fisher. His Father was John A. (?) Fisher. John is best known in my family as the first paid fire chief of Ithaca Fire Dept. (He died after only 1 year in office.) My mother said that she is distantly related to Marvin Fisher, the president of Tioga Savings Bank. (presently?) John Fisher is buried in the cementery on Rt13 across from the Vet Firemens Building, near the Wonderland Hotel. My mother also said that land was granted to the Fisher family for service in the Revolutionary War. But according to preliminary searches, Fisher Settlement was started by some Fishers from Albany, N.Y. around 1810. Are we connected? Please point me in the right direction. I also know that John's mother's maiden name may have been Walsh. She came from Ireland. I always thought that Fisher was English/Welch. Also, is there any connection to the German Fishers who settled in Spencer? Thank! -you very much. I look forward to recieving any information. :)
