Hi, I am trying to learn something more about the family of my gr.gr. grandparents, Lysander Barber RICE and Abigail MOORE Rice, who allegedly was born ca.1813 in Tompkins Co., NY. Lysander RICE, born 11 April 1808, at Shrewsbuy, MA., and Abigail were married prior to 1839. They lived near Richford, Tioga Co., NY, where they raised a family of two sons and four daughters: Palmer Z., Alonzo (my gr. grandfather), Julia (who died before reaching adulthood), Melissa, Zella and Malintha ("May"). At some point in time, I think during the 1860s, the family lived in Cortland Co., NY. Eventually, the entire family, except for Lysander (who died sometime after 1860) migrated to Nebraska and settled in Fillmore Co. (I don't know when or where Lysander died, but it may have been in Cortland Co.) The Rice daughters married, apparently, before the exodus to Nebraska. One son-in-law was a John Tanner, I believe, and the surnames of the others could have been Edwards and Owens or Evans. Does any of this information ring a bell? Thank you. I just found a listing under the Town of Richford (Tioga Co., NY), Congregational Churchyard Cemetery, for Zenas (or Zenous) MOORE and Rachel, wife of Zenous. Their son, Palmer Z., died Sept. 20 (or 30), 1834, age 5 y. This is exciting to me, BECAUSE MY Lysander and Abigail (MOORE) RICE named their firstborn child (a son) PALMER Z. (which I was told stood for Zenith!) Rice!!! Does anyone know something more about this family?!
