To Samuel D. Kress and John Light of the town of Tioga Greeting: Whereas due proof having been made before Caleb Baker Esq. Surrogate of our County of Tioga, that John Kress late of the Town of Tioga in the said County is daead and as is alleged lately died intestate having whilst living and at the time of his death goods, chattels or credits within this state by means whereof the ordering and granting administration of all and singular the said good, chattels and credits: and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth appertain(—): And we being desirous that the good, chattels and credits of the said deceased, may be well and faithfully administered applied and disposed of, do grant unto you the said Samuel D. Kress and John Light full power by these presents to administer and faithfully to dispose of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits; to ask, demand, recover and receive the debts, which unto the said deceased, whilst living and at the time of his death did belong: ! and to pay the debts which the said deceased did owe so far as such goods, chattels and credits will thereto extend, and the law require: Hereby requires you to make or cause to me made a true and perfect inventory of all & singular the goods, chattels & credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come to your hands, possession or knowledge and the same so made to exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the office of the Surrogate of the said County of Tioga at or before the expiration of six calendar months from the date hereof: And also to render a just and true account of administration when thereunto required. And we do by these presents depute &and appoint you the said Samuel D. Kress and John Light administrators of all & singular the goods chattels & credits which were of the said John Kress deceased. In testimony whereof, we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness Caleb Baker Esq.
