Surnames: Troy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3RB.2ACE/386 Message Board Post: I am searching for the gravesite of Hugh Troy my gggrandfather who lived with his son John Troy in Spencer, N.Y. He and John came to the US from Ireland around 1852 and he lived in the home John purchased in Spencer, N.Y. The 1860 census shows Hugh living with John, Tioga County, Spencer, N.Y. and being 65 years old at that time - so he may have been born in 1795 Ireland. Hugh does not appear in the Tioga County,Spencer,NY census for 1870 but John does, so Hugh may have died between 1860 and 1870. Later in the 1800's John moved to Tompkins County, Ithaca, N.Y and built a house which is now located on the Troy Road,Ithaca, N.Y. and all evidence does not show Hugh living with him in 1884. I need to make an Ireland connection for Hugh so I can explore Irish ancestors - and I would appreciate any suggestions or information as to how I can locate Hugh's grave site and death date.
