That he is a brother of John Townsend who resided at Owego, New York at the time of his decease, and he knows the fact that he was married to Frances White, that deponent was present and saw them married, at the township of Nichols in the county of Tioga state of New York, that they were married by a Justice of the Peace, whose name was Pease, but whose given name deponent cannot recollect. That deponent is unable to give the exact date of such marriage but that it was some years before the War of the Rebellion broke out.
