Surnames: STEVENS / STEPHENS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3RB.2ACE/361 Message Board Post: Looking for info on John STEPHENS (b. 7-24-1731/2 RI; d. 1835-40), ship's carpenter, Revolutionary War veteran. He lived in Spencer, Tioga Co, NY after the War with his wife and 1unmarried son (b. @ 1800) and 1 unmarried daughter (b. @ 1790). He had 4 other children living in Ulster Co, NY in 1825. He was poverty stricken & widowed by 1825 when he applied for his Rev. War pension (age 93). His pension was denied (could not remember enough details), but he came back again in 1832 to request it again (age 101). At that time there was no mention of his son & daughter. He was accompanied by (a friend & neighbor) Elias VAN AUKEN, also a Rev. veteran applying for his own pension. Melanie STEVENS Mattson
