I'm researching the family of Daniel Woodford, my 3g-grandfather. Daniel bought land in Fulton Co., OH, in 1833 and is supposed to have come from Tioga Co., NY. I know there were other Woodfords in Tioga County, so I hope someone can give me some leads or ideas. I don't know Daniel's parents or siblings. Daniel was b. 1780 CT and m. Anna Norton in Greenville, Greene Co., NY, 5 Oct 1801. Both died 1853 in Fulton Co., OH. I have the names of five of their kids: Martha (1803-1879) m. John M. Hammett; Amanda (1818-1881) m. Whitfield W. Tappan (my line); Emaline (~1823-1849) m. David Hamp; Hiram (b. ~1827); Edwin (b. ~1828). They probably had several children born between 1803 and 1818, and I'd like to find them. Regards, Joanna Ashmun jmashmun@halcyon.com
I have a Xerox copy of all or part of a book, "Book of Remembrance, Presbyterian Church, Spencer, NY, 1815-1915". I don't know if it's a copy of the entire book or only a portion. I have not personally researched this church, but am sending information from my copy which may be of interest to list members. The introductory section of the book explains that this church was originally organized as a Congregational Church in the home of Daniel Hugg in North Spencer ("then Huggtown") on Nov. 23, 1815. "In 1874 certain members desired to become 'purely Presbyterian' . . . . Soon, thereafter, the society was called Presbyterian." The introduction goes on to say that most records from 1815 to 1833 were lost. IMPORTANT NOTES: I have no personal additional research information on any of the individuals mentioned except the Rev. Richard Andrus, an early pastor. Be sure to notice the questionable year of marriage after March, 1844. If someone has a complete sheet they can send me, I'll issue a correction to the list. Hi All, This is getting painful, it is soo bad. If anyone wants a copy of the CEMETERY.DOT file I will send it to them direct as it is getting loaded into the note as text when I send it attached to a NYTIOGA-L E-MAIL. Ernie
Hi All, This is a note from Charlie. The attached file follows in the next note. Ernie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` In a message dated 11/3/00 8:54:42 PM Eastern Standard Time, CPBUNNELL@aol.com writes: I use MS Word and work on it as a word document (.doc) file. When I'm all done, I then go to "save as" and select "HTML" and save it again. At that point I have two copies of it; one is a .doc file and the other is a .htm file. The only problem I'm now having is that the cemetery name isn't coming through in the HTML version, though it's there in the .doc version. I've been putting the cemetery title on the top as a word box, so maybe I'd better try something different. Attached is the template I built (cemetery report.dot). If you save this to your template file (usually, program files/microsoft office/templates), when you want to do another cemetery, just go to MS Word, select new and then this template. The best part is that if you are at the end of the four pages and you need more lines, you simply go to the far right column, hit the tab button and another line appears. Save your work as a .doc until it's all done, and then save as .htm. Let me know how it works. Meanwhile, I'll try to figure out why the html format loses the heading. Anyone who is doing this and using MS word can do the same thing. Charlie
Hi All, This note got scrambled when I got my copy so I'm trying to send a better copy. It will be 2 notes now. I didn't expect this kind or problem but it is getting very hectic and I'm way behind but working on answering all the notes. Some have even completed their pages and I'm busy editing too. I'm enjoying the problem though. The information in the next note is not something all of you can do as some have more skills and tools than others. So the hope is this will help some of you to get the data to me with almost no editing on my part Ernie CC NYTIOGA

Hi All on the LIST, It is getting hectic and I'm getting a lot of mail. I have exchanged several notes with most that have volunteered and now I'm trying to get this organized in some sensible way. I'll take advantage of the list to talk about my need for text data. It seems best for all to use 3 columns for the data 1. Surname 2. Given Name 3. Dates and all other information. The third column will wrap in the 3 column table until all of the data shows. I will need everyones mailing address to get the pages sent. These are going to have to be looked after and returned if for some reason such as health problems or changes in available time, prevents completion of the goal. Text format is essential and I need to get a sample of each persons work very soon after they start, to ensure no time gets wasted with something that can't be used. As I'm talking to so many, it would help if you copied my prior note to you in your reply to let me see what you are responding to. You could also use the cemetery name in the subject after we get that far. I've got to get the pages copied and the book is some less than 400 pages. As we have soo many contributing (maybe more than 10 so far) I may find other items of interest for researchers and those that aren' exhausted may type up some other things in the future. I may be running ahead a little on that one. For those of you unfamiliar with HTML code, that is used to create web pages. It is not too tough to learn with a good book if you are interested. My plan is to take your text and lay it into a web page table like other listing on the web site. Columns slide sideways and loose the positions when indentations get handled by the internet enroute to me. I will probably have to slide each line around to get it into a straight column so I can then edit the file with the code statements. Enough of that. If you want to know more about me go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nytioga/erniewho.htm We've not done this before and we are going forward expectantly. Ernie
