The closest I come is Emily R LADU b 1826 Brown (Broom?), Shenango, NY. Emily's husband was from Woodstock, Ulster, NY, and her granddaughter married into a family from Candor, Tioga, NY. Her parents were Oliver Peter LADU d 1869 and Hulda JACOBS d 1881. She had 3 siblings that I know of. Sampson LADU/LA DUE b 1840, Hannah LADU and Alzinia LADU. I am still trying to connect to the LADUs (and the variants) that were around NY in the 1700-1800s. Many seem to be at Fishkill, Robout, NY, but I can't find a connection yet. Mike

His funeral was held at the house Monday afternoon, Rev. Warren C. Taylor, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiating. He was born in Owego (Tioga County) and was the son of the late Edward VanGorden. He entered the employ of the goverment's mail service and first had a run of the New York Central railroad. While alighting from a mail car at Utica he slipped and his right foot was injured under the wheels of the car. After his recovery he was transferred to the Erie railroad, his run being on trains Nos. 1 and 2 between New York and Salamonca. He was very popular with a large cirlce of friends and was one of the government's most efficient railway postal clerks. He was a member of Susquehanna hose company, No. 1, and of Ahwaga tribe No. 40, I. O. R. M. A delegation from each of these organizations attended the funeral. He leaves a wife, who was formerly Miss Minnie L. Danforth, of this village, and one daughter, Helen VanGorden, aged two years, his mother, Mrs. Mary VanGorden, of this village, and four sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Ethel) Keefe, of this village; Mrs. Jefferson H. (Reva) Crandall, of Deposit, and Mrs. Lena Riffle and Miss Nina VanGorden of Stella, NY (now part of Binghamton). Note: At the time of his death, his wife, Minnie, was pregnant with his second daughter, Harriet VanGorden.

Allington, his mother was named Catherine. Horace married Elizabeth Augusta Hanke, who was from Germany, on 8-13-1876. Hello Everyone, I am trying a new approach to see if I can find the maiden name of my 3ggrandmother. Harriet surname unk was born about 1811 in Tioga County, New York. Sometime after 1811, she or her family immigrated to Lincoln County, Ontario. She died Grimsby, Lincoln County, Ontario 15 Feb 1873. She married most likely in Ontario Alexander Nelson. In the census records is listed 3 children, James b 1832, Hannah b 1835 and George b 1836. My question. Is there anyone who has family or a tree branch that immigrated to Southern Ontario after 1811? I was told to look at the Stocking surname, but I haven't found anyone that has a Harriet listed with the birth date of 1811. To add to this problem, my instincts tell me Harriet was married once before she married Alexander Nelson, which would add to confusion. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. regards, joan
