There is a huge list for Williams in the History you mentioned- pg 175: Hiram williams came from Conn.1795,and made the first settlement on the farm now owned by his grandson,William I. Williams(insert-this was in Cander)This place was known as Ford's Location,Mr. Ford having received 350 acres for his services as surveyor.mr. Williams married Abigail Ford,who bore him six children,as follows.Betsy,Sally,Eunice,Alfred and Ira.Alfred married Esther lane,and reared six children,viz,: susan,Mary,Pluma,Tracy,William I. andEdgar. Of the families you mention in Ulster, Enoch, Isaac, John H. were children of John & Betsy Kniffin. John was from Bedford Westchester Co. They are not closely related to the Dingees in the query. Lawrence is very distantly related. Lawrence grew up in Putnam Co. and his father Elijah was a loyalist who went to New Brunswick Canada. The family was one of the earliest settlers in Dutchess Co (1714) and originally came out of LI. The parents of the Tioga Dingee descendants came from Bedford to Putnam/Dutchess to Delaware Co. NY ??to Tioga Co. There was also a John T Dingee, b.1829 Delaware Co, a florist, in Waverly who is probably a first cousin of the Dingee descendants in the query. This was a far flung family.

In 1840 they were living in Meredith, Delaware Co. NY (p.472). One report said they died in Stamford. Another said they went to Tioga Co. Did they die in Tioga? When? Both?? Was Sterling his actual first name? No grandchildren found named Sterling. All three known children were living in Barton Tioga Co. NY in 1850: two Hubbell sons, Isaac b.1815 and John b.1826, and daughter Deborah Ann Hubbell, w/o Jacob Andre. Deborah Hubbell (1811- ) of Stamford married Jacob Andre (1812-1890) of Kortright in 1835 in Delaware Co. NY Jacob Andre aka Jacob Andrew died in Lockwood Tioga Co. NY. Working on Lovinia's ancestry. Elijah and Kezia were said to have been the first marriage of record in the town of Meredith, Delaware Co, running away to marry fall of 1796. Many members of this family migrated and settled in Tompkins, Tioga and Chemung Cos., NY State, and then further west into Iowa and other states. So far in Delaware Co. we are back to Elmer and Orpha Jane GEORGIA b. ca 1826 and 1830 respectively in NY and having children Colace Eugene, Birge, Sophronia, Dwight, Valdimar (aka Val and Homer) and others. Possible parents of Elmer are E. B. and Electa GEORGIA found in 1850 census as parents of Moses, Abiah, and William. They are the only other GEORGIA family in Town of Davenport, Delaware Co., NY, 1850 and ages fit. Elmer and family are in Davenport in 1850, 55, 60, 65 census records. They are found in Franklin, Delaware Co., in 1880 census. Val/Homer marries Ida Turner and they are in town of Milford, Otsego Co., NY in 1892 and 1900 census records. We have descendants of Val/Homer and Ida Turner GEORGIA and would like more information of ancestry, vital records of dates and places of births, deaths, marriages, burials, etc.

My Mom wrote this information and that's all she knew. When I began to investigate my roots, the first one I attempted to find anything on was my grandfather. The first thing I found was his arriving in New York on the Oscar II June 28,1909...On the manifest his destination was "Uncle ___ ___(illegible)HOLMES @ RFD#1 Apalachin, NY. I can find nothing on these people. My GGranfather was born in Norway on 1/21/1858 so I would think MARY TENGELSEN HOLMES would have been about that time also.... How she came to be in New York?????? Any help/hints would be much appreciated
