The remains were laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery at Berkshire. Death of Katie VanSusan Katie VanSusan, wife of Leslie Hamilton, died at the home of her parents on Thursay evening, Dec. 4. Her death was unusually sad. A baby boy was born Thursday afternoon, but did not live and the young mother lived only a few hours after its birth. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Diedrick VanSusan and was born Mar. 19, 1894. Last Christmas day she became the bride of Leslie Hamilton and both young people were highly esteemed in the community and the church where they were regular attendants. Beside the parents and husband she is survived by four brothers, Raymond, of Newark Valley; Grant, of Groton; and Ralph and Lido, who are at home. Her funeral was held at the home of her parents on Saturday afternoon, Rev. N. W. Barnes of the M. E. Church officiating, and the mother and baby were buried together in Evergreen Cemetery. Death of C. J. Dewey On Tuesday evening, Dec. 9, occurred the death of C. J. Dewey, an aged and highly esteemed resident of this village. Charles Johnson Dewey was a son of Ezekiel and Lucy Dewey. He was born in the town of Richford May 10, 1825. In 1834, the family moved to Lisle, where they conducted a hotel for three years, then they moved back to Richford, where they remained for three years more and then the family moved to Berkshire where the deceased had since lived for more than 72 years. Mr. Dewey was united in marriage Oct. 22, 1855. to Mrs. Lucinda Warren Cargill, of Lee, Mass. Three children were born to them, Clara, wife of Eugene Lynch, Flora, wife of Allen Manning, of Binghamton, and Dwight. The two daughters survive him. The beloved wife and mother died March 24, 1907. Mr. Dewey had been in feeble health for a long time. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lynch gave up their own home and came to take care of their father. It will be a great source of comfort to them now that they have cared for him so patiently. Marriages: At the home of the bride's father, Peter Wavle, Wednesday evening, Feb 27, 1901, by the Rev. H. N. VanDeusen, Ralph De Witt Rightmire and Miss Bessie May Wavle, both of Berkshire. Mr. and Mrs. Rightmire will occupy rooms in E. F. Johnson's house and work the farm the coming season. At East Richford, Sunday, Feb. 11, by S. B. Hale, J.P., Berton Negus and Miss Dora Talcott, both of Richford. Hamilton-Hilsinger At the home of Mrs. and Mrs. Chas. Hilsinger at East Berkshire, Wednesday evening, Dec. 15, 1915, at 8 o'clock, their younger daughter, Kittie Belle, was married to Leslie C. Hamilton, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Hamilton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G.R. Savige of Berkshire. The bride was daintily attired n white brocade silk and lace and her traveling suit was of brown gabardine with hat to match. The young couple left Thursday morning for a wedding trip to Cortland and other places. As both are well known and highly respected in Berkshire they have the best wishes of their many friends. Community notes: Speedsville - date unknown, but after 1901. A sad accident occurred on Wednesday of last week on Berkshire hill, about three miles from this place. A little child named Hamilton was playing with matches which became ignited and set its clothing on fire. When the mother returned to her home she found her little one lying on the bed and her clothing burned. Death came in a short time to the relief of the little sufferer. Personal: Mr. and Mrs. Will Meeks entertained the ladies aid society of the Episcopal church on Tuesday evening. They have a nice home and the guests were welcomed, and fared sumptuously. James Sears is suffering from neuralgia at his home on the Caroline Center road. Miss Jennie Lant sailed for England on Thursday of this week. Frank Maynard, who has been residing with Mrs. Nancy Hungerford the past season, has returned to his home. This is all I have from the bible. I do have other clippings, and when I get the time I will type them in. Patti researching: Hamilton, Matson/Matison/Matteson, Negus (Neigus), Tarbox, Marical/Mericle/Maricle

    1. [NYTIOGA] Old School Baptist Research in New York
    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Dear List members, For several months now, we have been posting historical data about many of the Old School or Primitive Baptist churches across the northern states, to a website, which is designed in a manner to try to help students of church history and also family history. We have included surnames of members as far as they are available to us, although that is only a fraction of the names we would have if all the records were available to us. A great deal of time is required to prepare lists of members, enter them in our database, correct and improve them, etc. After 15 years of such work, on a volunteer basis, we now have over 30,000 entries, and have the records at hand to greatly increase that number. If you would like to review our website, or the page for the several counties we have done work on, in New York state, you may go to either of the following URL addresses shown below. Please write in our Guestbooks, and let us know if you think we can help, or if you can help us, on any of the information presented. We would especially appreciate being informed if anyone knows of the existence of church records, sketch histories or photographs. Here is our main homepage: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Here is the page for Family History Assistance in New York State (it is in progress - not complete) http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist-NY.html (make sure the whole line -including the ".html" at the end is intact - the URL is lengthy and tends to break down into two lines. Thank you kindly, Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb

There was an Amos Livermore who _died_ in 1827, who may have owned land that later got sold to Dexter's father Rufus and later to his grandfather Phineas. These transactions occurred from 1818 to 1834, so it's probably not your Amos. There were many George Livermores in the index, so it will take some further searching to see if anything matches up there. Jason

    2. Jason Livermore, I see that you had a lot on infomation on the Dexter Livermore family posted on Ancestry .Com and was wondering if you might have anything on a Amos Livermore b. 8/3/1827 d. 1/2/1885. He is my line of Livermore and we have been told that he and his two brothers came to Pa. from Owego or Ithaca, N.Y. I also had a newpaper clipping of a George Livermore that started a Gun Works in Ithaca, N.Y. and think this might be a brother. He lived to be 104 years old. I do not have any other info on Amos Livermore family and would like to learn more . Thank you in advance for any help. Betty J. LaMont lulu@sosbbs.com
