    2. Patti Stott
    3. Hello Ernie, Sorry that I sent this to the list, but I have misplaced your email address. I just scanned in a photo of a Matson and related families reunion - I believe it took place in the late 1800's, about 1890. If you would like to post it on the website, I will send you a copy. Take care, Patti

    1. [NYTIOGA] Barton, NY and Vital Records
    2. Okay folks I have another question. Does Barton have its own town hall?? I have tried (unsuccessfully) to find an address or phone # for them. I need to order a death certificate for the period 1890. If *anyone* can put me on the right path, it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I am aware of ordering from Albany but I would prefer to order directly from the town itself if that is possible. Also, how much are death certificates? Thanks! Janice

    1. [NYTIOGA] Looking for information on Feed Mill in Nichols in 1890
    2. Eileen Gillette
    3. Hi List, Quite some time ago I received information contained in Season's of Change an updated History of Tioga County. On page 608 it mentions L.M. Gillette owned a feed mill in Nichols. It goes on to say that this mill was built around the middle of the 1890's by Frank Baker. L.M. Gillett ran it until 1915. I am hoping that L.M. Gillett is actually my husbands great grandfather Lewis Martin Gillett who was born in 1859 and died in 1940. I don't know the place of either of these occurrences. There is a family tie to Nichols, my husbands father and all but one aunt and uncle were born in Nichols. Does anyone on the list have any more information on who, exactly L.M. Gillette was? Thank you, Eileen Gillette El Dorado County, CA

    1. [NYTIOGA] BARTON NEWSPAPER 1890
    2. I am seeking an obit notice that may have been placed in one of the local papers for a Baptist Minister by the name of Horace KELSEY. He died 22 October 1890 and is buried in the Oak Hill Church Cemetery in Barton, NY. Can anyone tell me what newspaper I would need to check and where I can find a copy? Does Oak Hill Church Cemetery have a sexton or office I can write to? Thanks Janice

    3. There was an Osborn/Osborne family in Broome Co. Barnard Osborne was the Colesville Town Historian around 1975. He did a lot of genealogical research. You might try the Broome Co, Historical Society for Osborne information. I am sorry that I dod not have a current address for the Society. It probably is on the Broome Co. web site. Randall. A cousin who has done alot on this side of the family says she is either full blooded Seneca or a large percentage. The info he supplied me with is that she was born early 1800's in Broome county, possibly in Willeysville(spelling?), upstate NY. I know that she was married to Benjamin F. Osborn. 2. Linda Dabulewicz
    3. Has anyone noticed my missing Mathewsons? I am looking for Frank and Elisha Mathewson ages 3 and 6 probably buried in the same coffin in about 1862. The parents were Elizabeth and Lewis Mathewson who are buried in Owego. I found Minerva Elliott . She is buried in McKean County Pa. She must have married Chester Coleman sometime after she moved out of the Mathewson home. Is anyone aware of any epidemics in the Owego area in about 1862. Do newspapers mention any train wrecks or tragedies in the area? Somthing big happened to the Mathewson family between 1862 and 1869 . It may have involved the Elliott family of Dryden and the Civil War. I am checking Broome Tioga and Tompkins County for the information Thanks for any help Linda
