He had a brother Donald and a sister. All three chidren were given up at young age. Joseph PICHANY was my grandfather. There were several other relatives that I know about Joseph's brother Meade PICHANY was from the Willseyville/Candor area. Meade's son is Gary PICHANY. Gary has two sons Jeremy who now lives in Endicott and Casey who lives in Rochester. I would love to hear from anyone who can help me find cemeteries or better yet living relatives. It was always my dad's dream to find more of his family. We found my Grandfather when I was a young girl, the others we have found in our research.

When you contact the town clerk, ask if they have copies of the burial permits. I found that in order to be buried in NY, most towns required a burial permit. Hi, Juliann, I've just read your message to the Tioga Co. list, and I was wondering what your grandfather's last name was. A lot of my mother's family was from Tioga and Greene Co., and my great grandfather was born in Candor. He was James ARMSTRONG, s/o James & Elizabeth (Cady) ARMSTRONG. Other surnames we have in that area are LOSEE, MERRITT, HELMER, STODDARD, HARRIS, GREEN, BARRON, KNAPP/KNOPP, HAWKINS. I think there are a few others, but right now it's after 2 AM,. and my so-called brain has long since clocked out for the night! Hoping to hear from you... In Tioga County you generally have to go to the Clerk of the town where they died. I have had no luck with the County Clerk. Records were to be kept starting in 1880 but not all were reported in the beginning so you may or may not find it. I have tried for death records in 1889 and 1890 and found nothing.

He wrote me that he could not find the record. My question is, do death records in Tioga County go back that far? And if so, is there some other place I could check for this record? Also, my g-g-grandfather had moved to Owego just 2-3 months before he died, but previously his residence had been Candor for many, many years.
