I was born and raised in the Ithaca, NY area and I never heard that name mentioned or referred to in that location. It seems that the time frames may be correct for Moses to be the father of Simeon - but as you have stated this would be a long shot. I have still not been able to find out who Simeon's father was and have no connections in my family line prior to Simeon's birth in 1816. Do you know who the children were of Moses Barpo? If you find anything else out - please let me know - thanks!

I'm hoping to obtain a death certificate from the year 1899 from the County Clerk in Waverly. Does anyone know if their records go back that far? I just wasted $44 in Chemung Co. on unavailable records and don't want to waste more if I don't have to. I have a James ARMSTRONG, who born on 4 July 1834 @ Candor, Tioga Co; I assume that his parents were also there at that time as well: they were Henry & Eliza (Cady) ARMSTRONG, and there may have also been at least two sisters there as well. Do you have additional information on your family line into the 1790 era? Moses and his wife are found in the King Cemetery just south of Ithaca. I believe this line is connected to a Jones line in Somerset county, NJ ca 1781 from correspondence where Moses identifies himself as a cousin of Mary Jones, wife of Francis King.

In the 1855 State Census, Town of Dix, he listed as being 47 years, born in Tompkins County NY. His wife is Marie (Mariah) Wygant age listed as 39 (which I believe should be 41) born at Chemung Co. NY . They moved from NY State to Crawford Co. PA in the middle of 1830's, returned to NY Tompkins Co. before 1848, and in Chemung Co. NY before 1850.
