My maternal grandfather was Wilbur Lounsberry who was supposedly born in Brookdale, Pa. in unknown year but my grandmother was born in 1891 so my best guess is around that same year. During their marriage, which was around 1905, they lived in Binghamton, Broome Co., NY. If anything looks familiar, I will go on with the story. Elaine

    3. My Miller family lived in Clark Co., Illinois area from about 1820 through the rest of that century. There were several Miller families from New York in Clark County, and my Hugh Miller was born in New York about 1790. His father, Hugh Miller Sr., was born about 1765. I found a Hugh Miller listed in the 1800 and 1810 Tioga County Census Records, which appears to fit in with my family, and close to Hugh Miller are listed the Robert and William Miller families, both names which Hugh Miller Jr. used in naming his first three sons. Does anyone know of any previous research completed on the Miller families of Tioga County, or of any birth, death, marriage, probate or land records that may be available for the time period of 1790 to 1820 in Tioga County. The township listed on the census records says Elmira. Thank you for any suggestions or other information.

    1. [NYTIOGA] Goulds from Tioga Co., NY to Lee Co., IL
    2. William B. Lord
    3. Joseph Gould was one of the early Gould settlers in Tioga and Tompkins counties (along with Adam, Stephen, Thomas, and William, at least). Joseph was born in Vermont in 1772, but appears in Danby, Tompkins Co., NY, by 1825. He appears, at 78, living in Palmyra, (Lee County) IL, outside of Dixon with James and Sophronia Holly, formerly of NY, in 1850, and next door to John Lord, whose son, Henry, subsequently married Ellen Lindsey, daughter of Mary Gould Lindsey. Down the road from Joseph Gould and the Hollys, in 1850, are Reuben and Nancy Eastwood, also from NY, and (living with them) Darwin and Andrew J. Gould, 21 and 19 respectively, also born in New York. Darwin W. Gould may have been double counted in this census, because there is another D. W. Gould of this age and birth place, living in the same neighborhood. Meanwhile, back in Owego, Juliette Gould, 15 at the time, is found in the 1850 census living with the Wood family, maybe as a servant, just three doors from Henry and Ellen Gould, 57 and 50. Perhaps they are her parents? Mary Gould was born in Ithaca in 1824. Mary died in 1887, after living for several years as a widow with her daughter, Ellen Lindsey Lord, and her family in Dixon. Mary's funeral was held at the home of John Julien in Dixon. John Julien's wife was Juliette Gould, who was born in Owego in 1837, and who came to Dixon from Owego in 1857. Does anyone know how all of these Goulds (Andrew J., Darwin W., Henry, Joseph, Juliette, and Mary, to say nothing of Nancy Eastwood and Sophronia Holly) may be related? It has to be more than a coincidence that they all came from Tioga and Tompkins Counties in New York and settled near each other in Lee County, Illinois in the mid-nineteenth century. Bill Lord, in Tucson, AZ

Surnames: BROWN, DEMARANVILLE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3RB.2ACE/487 Message Board Post: 1830 US census of Virgil, Cortland Co., New York shows Luther BROWN with wife and two daughters under 5 yrs old and one daughter 5-9 yrs old. 1835 NY State census, same place, shows two males, wife and 4 daughters under 16 yrs old. 1840 US census in Virgil shows Luther, wife, male 10-14 yrs old, one daughter 5-9 yrs old, two daughters 10-14 yrs old and one daughter 15-19 yrs old. 1850 US census in Spencer, Tioga County, New York shows Luther and Anna (sic) BROWN with 7-year-old son Joseph. The four daughters are gone. 1855 NY State census in Richford, Tioga County, New York shows Luther (53 yrs old and born in Chemung County, New York) and Ann (52 yrs old and born in Cortland County, New York) with their son, Joseph (12 yrs old and born in Tioga County, New York). Luther and Ann say they have lived in Tioga County for 13 years. 1860 US census shows Luther, Ann and Joseph still living in Richford, Tioga County, New York. Their ages given are 57, 56 and 16 respectively. 1880 US census in Fairmount, Leavenworth County, Kansas shows Luther BROWN (78 yrs old) with his wife Ann BROWN (76 years old), son Joseph (36 yrs old) and grandson, Henry (14 yrs old). Joseph's wife is dead. (The 1880 Census shows additional information.) I think the youngest of the four daughters is Adelia A. BROWN (born June 30, 1833) but can't prove it. (That’s what I’d like to prove or disprove.) She married Elisha Pierce DEMARANVILLE July 2, 1849 in Richford, Tioga County, New York. These two are my great-great grandparents. Can anybody identify any of these four BROWN daughters or supply any more information about Luther and Ann BROWN? How about where and when they died??

    3. Does anyone know if you write a will and record it in one county and then move to another county, and you die, is the original will legitimate? That is, if it is the only will on file anywhere? Must you record a new one when you move? This question relates to families in the 1800's and early 1900's for New York state.

They settled in the Jersey Shore, Wmsport and Gallagher areas in PA in the late 1800's and into the 1900's. Ethan Jr was married to Barbara Campbell, they had about 6 children. Ethan Sr was married to Mary (Walrath?, she was from Montgomery Cty.NY.) Anyone out there related to this family? I would appreciate anything anyone has to share. The information on the LDS site is not accurate...usually isn't. If you have anything, please let me know...bible entries, obits, death certs, wills, anything. Thanks. Gwen Barton

    2. Gwen Aliferis
    3. Does anyone have any information on Daniel Jenks married to Abigail Kinney (Keeney). He was born 10/4/1794 in Cheshire, Cheshire Cnty, MA. Moved to Broome Cnty NY. Does anyone have any documents that establish a relationship(s) with his children? I am looking for anything other than the LDS information, the information they have is incorrect. I am looking for anything, obits, land records, wills, etc. I am trying to establish parental relationships to children. I am looking for Amaziah, Cordelia, or any other sibling that is connected to Amaziah. I have been unable to find any link, on paper, to Daniel and Amaziah as father and son. If I can link Ama with one of his siblings and link that sibling to Daniel, that might work for me. Daniel remarried after his wife Abigail died, he married a much younger woman named Clarissa Northrup. He might have left everything to her. If anyone has anything to share, I would be most grateful. If you can help, e-mail me at: aliferis@erols.com Thanks, Gwen
