    1. [NYSUF] Re: Southold Town Directories 1860's
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jUB.2ACI/711.1 Message Board Post: There were no TOWN directories for that time period, but Curtin did publish directories of Long Island beginning in mid-1860s, containing just a relatively few villages and hamlets. In the 1865-66 and 1867-68 volumes, the only locality in Southold Town to be listed was Greenport, and there were no Butler or Ritterbusch/bush entries. In the 1868-69 volume, the hamlet of Southold in the town of Southold was listed, in addition to Greenport, but neither had Butler or Ritterbusch entries. Do you actually have a transcript of the church record? The ministers sometimes indicated the locality name for the bride and groom.
