From 30 July 1889 marriage at age of about 23 or 24 though date of 1910 census, George’s occupation on the birth records of his seven children- known as 25 May 2003- was brass finisher or brass moulder. The 1905 extracted census info does not indicate what his job was. The 1912 Brooklyn directory, listed George as a foreman. (The birth certificates of his son George- 13 August 1897 and his daughter, Marguerite 4 September 1899 indicate George was then living in an almshouse. Checked FHL records of Brooklyn almhouse residents 24 February 1888- 27 October 1905 (films 1376274-280)and found no possible Barnes or Barnes variations.) Known children of George W Barnes & Marguerite Veronica Farrell except Agnita- are known to have been b in Manhattan. -Mary- b 28 Oct 1891 -Elizabeth- b 7 July 1893 -Rose- b 23 Jul 1895 -George William- b 13 August 1897; d 31 Aug 1966 in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida; bur Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, Suffolk County, NY. If George William married, wife not bur with him; service number- 708-02-96; dates of service: 28 December 1942 thru 12 July 1945; duty status- discharged rank-grade: Chief Boatswin Mate (Construction Battalion); decorations: one engagement Star; American Campaign Medal; Pacific- Asiatic Campaign medal; place of entry: NY, NY; place of separation- USNOTC [United States Naval Operations Training?/Transfer? (At m the ch in which they were md was called Greenwood Heights Reformed Ch; as of 1974 this ch was called Christ United Methodist Church at 673-45 Street, Brooklyn) -Loretta- b 4 January 1903 -Agnita, b calculated 1909 in Manhattan or Brooklyn other children: -possible first born child born before Mary- per birth cert of Mary and 1900 census- no other child’s b cert suggests the possibility of any but the above known children through Loretta’s b. 1910 census indicates MARGUERITE BARNES b FARRELL had 10 children and that seven were then living. Know the seven then living. Suggests two or three unidentified children were b and d btwn 4 January 1903 and the 20 April 1910 census. GEORGE BARNES b 1865/1866 last known address= 189 Sheridan Ave, Brooklyn in 1912 Brooklyn directory. (Brooklyn dir published 1913- not yet checked, and then not published 1914-1932) To check 1915 state census for Brooklyn. Have checked all boroughs d indexes 1909-1946. Have found GEORGE BARNES b 1865/1866 in the following censuses: 1870 census- SECOND enumeration (not yet found in the first);1880, 1900, 1905, 1910. Searched for, but not found in 1920 and 1930 censuses. Not yet searched 1915 and 1925 state censuses.
