On July 4,1776, he was living with his father Lemuel 3d during the Southamptoncensus (quantity of males shows all male children there). In 1776,"Samuel Peirson, son of Lemuel Peirson the 3d" registered his cattlebrand "S.P." at Southampton. In 1783, "Samuel Pierson of Sagg"registered his cattle earmark at Southampton. On 2 July 1787, he wasamong the signers of an agreement between the residents ofBridgehampton and Rev. Aaron Woolworth. In 1792, "Samuel Peirson,Bridge Hampton", registered a cattle earmark at Southampton that hebought of Col. David Peirson, his uncle. Samuel held Southampton townoffices: in 1800 as Overseer of Highways 6th district; and in 1802 and1805 as Fence Viewer.
