The copy I have is from J.A.Turslow's "History of the Town of Southampton." It lists a total of 90 signators, and the notation that this was "...all the Males of the Town of Southampton from sisteen years old and Upwards...excepting Mr. Elisha Paine and John Cook." > > Does anyone know if there was another list signed for the hamlet of Bridgehampton? This list of 90 (+2) names is conspicuously missing several prominant Bridgehampton families from the time, such as HEDGES, PIERSON, STANSBORO, CORWITH, WHITE and SAYRE. > > Is anyone aware of any published lists of Association signers for the outlieing areas, like Bridgehampton? > I tried to post this to the message board but I got a response first that my "message contains no data," and then that there were "too many Java Script errors." I don't know if it's ancestry's fault or mine. You might want to check _Calendar of Historical Manuscripts Relating to the War of the Revolution in the Office of the Secretary of State_ (Albany, 1868), 2 vols. (FHC microfilm #1550750). Vol. I has a number of lists of Suffolk County signators of the association, including, on p. 59, the one you mention. In front of that, on p. 58, is a longer list of names of men who signed at "County Hall" in May 1775, attested by Daniel Howell at Southampton on July 19. Comparing the names of men indexed (at the end of Vol. II) in the June, 1776, census of the eastern district of Southampton (east of a "place called the Water mill") pp. 412-417, one finds a number of similar names between the signators in this list and those enumerated in the census. On p. 120 of the same vol. is a list of officers of the 2nd Battalion, Suffolk County, dated Aug. 21, 1775. It appears that the officers of the 3rd Company were men from the eastern district. They were David Peirson, captain; Daniel Heges, 1st lt.; David Sayre, 2nd lt.; and Theophilus Peirson, ensign. All four names are in the census and in the list of County Hall signators, as is that of Jonathan Hedges, 2nd colonel [Lt. Col.?] of the battalion. Please note the variety of spellings of the names in the index. Are you referring to James Truslow Adams, _History of Southampton_? Russell K. Brown
