This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jUB.2ACI/731.1 Message Board Post: On 7/2/03 (8:37:25 PM MDT), in a posting to the Suffolk County Board that was 'gatewayed' to the [email protected], Susan Haff ([email protected]) asked, "Trying to find the parents of Andrew Haff - information I have has him born in Amityville, 03/28/1825 - married to Sarah Anna Houck of PA. Know his children and am descended from his son Fletcher." There are several points that you should be aware of: 1. Currently, there are places in both the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County and in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County that have an "Amityville, NY" mailing address. 2. Circa 1826, what is now the Town of Babylon was the southern part of the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County. The Town of Babylon did not secede and become independent of the Town of Huntington until 1872. 3. Circa 1826, the Town of Oyster Bay was in Queens County. Nassau County did not secede and become independent of Queens County until 1899. 4. The Village of Amityville in the Town of Babylon did not incorporate until 1894. I hope this information is useful or, at least, interesting. Walter Greenspan
