As I posted a bit earlier today, the Hamlet of Brentwood is in the Town of Islip, but there are places with a "Brentwood, NY" mailing address also in the Town of Huntington (parts of the Hamlet of Dix Hills in the Town of Huntington are in the service area of the Brentwood, NY postal zone and hence even though these places are not in Brentwood, these places would have a Brentwood, NY mailing address. Now, looking at the "township' choices. First, there are no townships in New York State. But, because the Census has a blank space labeled 'township', towns are mislabeled 'townships'. Second, the above list is a mish-mash of different types of communities, as: • Amityville is a village in the Town of Babylon • Babylon is a village in the Town of Babylon • Babylon Town is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County. • Bellport Village is a village in the Town of Brookhaven • Brookhaven Town is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Deer Park is a hamlet in the Town of Babylon • East Hampton Town is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Fishers Island is an island hamlet in the Town of Southold • Shoreham Village is a village in the Town of Brookhaven • Huntington Township (sic) is on of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Smithtown is on e of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Islip Town is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Medford is a hamlet in the Town of Brookhaven • Patchogue Village is a village in the Town of Brookhaven • Riverhead is one of 10 towns in Suffolk County • Shelter Island Town is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Southampton Township (sic) is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Southold Town is one of the 10 towns in Suffolk County • Wyandanch is a hamlet in the Town of Babylon
