For those that might not know where is "College Point, NY", currently it is a neighborhood in the north-central part of the Borough/County of Queens in NYC. For a neighborhood map of Queens: http://www.queenslibrary.org/gallery/past_exhibits/burgh/map.htm Circa Civil War times, College Point was a hamlet (unincorporated area) in the Town of Flushing in Queens County. Queens County was then 4 times as large as it is now, including all of Nassau County (seceded in 1899) and a small part of Suffolk County (Lloyd Neck peninsula in the Town of Oyster Bay was transferred to the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County in 1886). >From 1867 to 1898, College Point was a village (municipal corporation) in the Town of Flushing in Queens County.
