    3. I'm happy to report that my brick Wall #1 has crumpled, thanks to Y-DNA Eaton Family Project! I now know that I am descended from John Eaton of Dedham, via Jacob Eaton who came to Long Island,NY about 1760 and married Jane Robinson. My 2nd brick wall is his son Thomas Eaton's first wife, Phebe (b.1775-1785) probably on Long Island,NY. The Eaton's lived at Mt Sinai and Jacob died 1798 and then on 1800 census Jane is found HH in Ward 5 NYC and based on ages of males in the HH, Thomas is one of them. The following HH for Mills in Wd 5 NYC are as follows; George Mills, male age 45yr up (born before 1755) alone in HH James Mills, male age 45yr up(born bef. 1755) with female same age Joshua Mills, male age 45yr up(born bef 1755) with female same age, 2 females 25-45(1755-1775) and 1 female age 15-25(1775-1785) this could be my Phebe** Samuel Mills, 4 males 15-25 (1775-1785) 1 male 0-10(1790-1800) 1 fem 15-25,1 fem 0-10 Thomas Mills, 1 male 25-45(1755-1775) 1 fem same age,1 male 10-15, 1 male 0-10 Thomas is shown with property on a tax list in Brookhaven, Suff Co. NY 1802 and 1806, so he must have returned to Long Is. He married Phebe about 1802 and their first son, Apollos was born 1803. By the 1810 NY census, they are living at Wallkill, Orange Co.NY where there are also Mills families living. The HHs of Jacob Mills and Samuel Mills are on the same page of this census as Thos Eaton. Jacob Mills was male 45 up(b.bef.1765)female same age,and 9 others of varied ages Samuel Mills : 2 males 15-25(1785-1795) 2 females 15-25, 5 children There was also an Ebenezer Mills at Wallkill in 1800 and 1810 census;on 1810 his HH was: Ebenezer male 45up (b.bef. 1765) female 25-45(1765-1785) 3 males 15-25, 1male 16-18,2 fem 10-15 and 1 male 10-15. On 1790 Brookhaven census, there was a Micah Mills. Thos & Phebe had the following children; Apollos b.1803, Charry Ann b.1805,Nelson 1807(his grandson stated in later records that Nelson was born "Long Island NY") Eliza b.1808 and the following born Orange Co. NY;MaryAnn b.1810, Adeline b. 1814 and Harvey b. 1817. By 1820 census they are living in Tompkins County NY where they had their last son, Chauncey b.ca.1824 and Phebe must have died in that childbirth or shortly after and she is buried there. Thomas subsequently married again to Sarah (Tompkins? Fosdick?) and had another son and daughter in Tomp.Co.NY. I've favored Phebe being a Mills because there always seemed to be a closeness to that family, but she may not have been. I just do not have enough info on her to determine who she was. The obit of her son, Nelson(1842) said she was very religious and influenced him greatly so that he was instrumental in helping establish a church at Varna, Tomp.Co.NY in 1840. Her daughter, Adeline somehow owned a property in Ithaca which I have surmised must have come from an inheritance from her Mother's family. Any of this "strike a chord" for any researchers of Mills, or other surname? Thanks for any help and/or leads on this. Eileen
