By circa 1890-91 they included most (perhaps all) of the Suffolk County villages and there may be some hamlets included. In addition to listings by business or trade classification, the directories include professionals, clergy, members of the fire depts., village trustees, and several other categories. The volumes of the late 1880s include only some Kings County locations outside the Brooklyn city limits and several major Queens County communities - no Suffolk entries appear.
