Daniel J. Carroll “Daniel J. Carroll, for many years president of the Alberene Stone Company, the largest producers of soapstone in the world, died suddenly at Eastport, L. I., during the past month. Mr. Carroll was seventy-five years of age, and came to this country when a child. He was a widower and left an estate of several million dollars, much of it going to charities.” (Please note I am not related to this gentleman, and I do not have any further information on him or his family.)
