    1. Clarence SMITH, son of Sarah
    2. I am wondering if anyone has a Clarence Smith who was the son of Sarah B. Smith and step-son of Ansel Miller. Clarence is named in their obituaries but he does not appear with the family on any of the census records that I have found. Sarah married Ansel Lysander Miller on 5 March 1890 in Edwardsville. Sarah was from the Hammond area, daughter of Maria Countryman and Henry Smith. Since the first child of Ansel and Sarah was born in 8 Jul 1891, and because Ansel's obit states he is a step-son, I am assuming Clarence was born prior to the 1890 marriage. Sarah was born about 1860. I sure would appreciate talking with anyone who has a Clarence Smith on their tree! There are several both in St. Lawrence and Jefferson County. Regards, Julia

    3. Have you searched the 1880 US census? It is transcribed and online at www.familysearch.org. Sarah would be about 20 in 1880 and might have had a child by then.
