    3. Obit for Ida Hills Price - from Watertown Daily Times of March 21, 1942. Widow of J.L. Price, 86, dies. Succumbs after brief illness at her home. Always Gouverneur resident. Funeral for Mrs. Ida Hills Price to be Held from the Home Monday at 2:30 p.m. Gouverneur, March 21- Mrs. Ida Hills Price, 86, widow of Jay L. Price and a lifelong resident of this area, died Friday afternoon at 5:30 at her home, 146 Park street. She was taken ill one week ago. Previously, she was in good health and very active for one of her age. Funeral rites will be conducted from the home Monday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. Harold A. Thomas, pastor of First Methodist Church. Burial will in Riverside cemetery. Surviving are one son, Wilber E. Price of Richmond Hill, L.I., two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Lena) Lohmiller of Brooklyn and Mrs. Murray (Edna) Dodds of Canton; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and one niece, Mrs. Lynn Sprague of Gouverneur. Mrs. Price was born on a farm near Peabody's bridge, Clinton road, town of Gouverneur, Dec. 22, 1855, the daughter of Jesse and Helen Walling Hills. When she was but a small child, her father purchased a farm on the Little Bow road a few miles from this village. Mrs. Price lived on this farm for 60 years before moving to her Park street residence in the village where she had lived for the past 22 years. She was married to Jay L. Price of the Johnstown road, Gouverneur, on March 13, 1874. The couple resided on the Hills farm at Little Bow road from 1880 to 1920 when they retired from active farming and moved to this village. Six years after their marriage, Mr. Price bought the Hills farm. Mr. Price died there in 1925. Mrs. Price was a member of Gouverneur grange for a great many years and was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.
