It is a clipping I have, no family connection. Allen Family is Doubly Bereaved. Wife died Monday and Husband Yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Ethan W. Allen Victims of Pneumonia and Pass Away Within Forty-six Hours-Double Funeral Today. One of the saddest events occourring in this vicinity in many years is the death of Mr and Mrs Ethan W. Allen at their home on the county road, one mile west of this village. Mrs. Allen's death taking place Monday morning at 7:00 o'clock and Mr. Allen's following her yesterday morning at 5:00 o'clock. A double funeral will be held at the family home this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery. Both Mr and Mrs Allen had been very ill of pneumonis, Mrs Allen being stricken last Wednesday and Mr Allen had been ill a few days longer. Mrs Allen's death occurred rather unexpectedly Monday morning, a weak heart being inable to with stand the ravages of the disease. At that time Mr Allen was seriously ill, but Tuesday morning appeared to be improved and arrangement were made for a private funeral for Mrs Allen yesterday. Tuesday evening Mr Allen grew rapidly worse and died yesterday morning. Ethan W. Allen was born in the town of Louisville, July 17,1895, a son of the late Aaron Allen, one of the pioneer settlers of the town, and all his life had been spent in that town, where he followed farming. Feb. 14, 1895, he married Miss Mary Crooks Wolstenholme, of Massena. To them three children were born, all surviving, Mrs. Reginald J. Short of Massena, Edith and Ethan Jr., who live at home. He is suvived by one brother, Henry A. Allen, who resided with his brother and their business was carried under the name Allen Bros. Mrs. Allen was born in Derbyshire, England, June 2,1870, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Wolstenholme. When Mrs Allen was 18 years old the family came to Moulinette, Ont., and four years later moved to Massena and in 1895, as stated above, she married Mr Allen. Besides her children she is survived by five brothers, John Wolstenholme, who is in the Canadian Northwest, Walter Wolstenholme, of Massena , George H. Wolstenholme of West Stockholm, Frank Wolstenholme of Norwood and Herbert Wolstenholme of Louisville; also one sister, Mrs. Thomas Lettis, of Massena. The bereaved family has the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends in their double sorrow. ( The 1895 date for Ethan for his birth and marriage is what is in the obit.)
