John was a hardware dealer during the 1860's to at least 1870. I am looking for his parents and family. John was born in New York and is of Scottish descent. Margaret was born in Canada and is of Irish descent. John and his sister Almira Serena lived with both the Higbee family and with Cornelia Stillwell in the 1850's. All of these people lived in Ogdensburg, New York. I have been told that John's father was also named John. I believe that the Higbee, Stilwell and McCoy families were related but I cannot prove it yet. Can anyone help me in any way? Thanks so much!
