The oldest records where you might find useful info are the indexed land records, wills and probate at the various county offices. If a trip to northern NY is not convenient you might consider hiring a local researcher. You can contact the St. Lawrence county historical association for their recommendations. Several cemeteries have been photographed and indexed with the results uploaded to the county website at www.usgenweb.org. You might want to check that site.
