Surnames: Bancroft Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2RB.2ACE/2724.2735.2743.1.1 Message Board Post: This is the kind of question I usually ignore because there is so little to go with (no date of birth, marriage date, etc) but on a whim I went to www.rootsweb.com where, from the first page, you can search the social security death index. If a person died after about 1960 and if they applied for or recieved social security you might find them there. Also it helps that Alonzo and Ina are unusual given names. There was no entry for Alonzo but there is one for an Ina Bancroft whose last place of residence was Massena. This may be the one you want info on (a few other Ina Bancrofts were listed). She was born Oct. 5, 1882 and died July 1983. There is a link at that site where you can apply for more info from the social security administration (there is a fee). There is a 'post it note' feature at the site where you can leave a note with your email address to indicate your interest in this family. If someone else (possibly years from now) has information to share, they might see your note and contact you. I would strongly advise that you get and use one of the major free internet based email addresses (hotmail or yahoo). If you change ISP's you won't have to think about changing your email address. If you leave some old stranded email address behind in a 'post it note' no one will be able to contact you. Some old newspapers are on microfilm and some are searchable online. You may be able to find an obit now that you have a date of death (if this is the right Ina Bancroft). Hope this helps - Russ Sprague Kensington, Maryland
