    1. Re: [NYSTLAWR] Whalen Family
    2. Hi Many of the Cemeteries for Massena have been filmed by the LDS (Mormon) Church and the film may be ordered at your local Family History Library and viewed on their readers for a small fee of $5.50. I have had some Massena films in the past but presently do not have any on loan. I live out of state and use these films to obtain genealogical records for many towns in St Lawrence County and other area's of NYS, US and Canada. It varies as to the dates that these Town/City/Village records in St Lawrence County may start, but some are in the early 1800's and others do not start until 1840 and a few as of 1870. However the dates these churches were founded also varies. But many of them have been filmed. Depending on the area you are researching one will find other records of Vitals, land, court, wills and etc. records that give information. Another source for information would be to write to the City Clerk or Town Clerk in Massena for records on burial permits. However you would need DO. You can also write the St Lawrence County Historical Society and ask them to check their cemetery records for you. Their fee is clearly stated on their web site at: http://slcha.org/ and go to Archives. Still another source would be to write to the Church requesting any information on DOB, DOM and DOD that their records might show. Good Luck Pat R
