Surnames: HAIGHT, RUTHERFORD, GORRIE Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2RB.2ACE/8511 Message Board Post: Northern Christian Advocate - October 5, 1859 Miss Lydia E. HAIGHT, of Parishville, St. Lawrence County, New York, died in Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York, August 1st, 1859, in the 35th year of her age. Sister Haight spent the last years of her life in the village of Potsdam, where she greatly endeared herself to the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was an eminently devoted and consistent Christian. With her, religion was a reality----a soul saving reality. Her end was eminently triumphant and glorious. She asked those who surrounded her dying bed to shout with her the praise of God; and in this happy frame of mind she passed away beyond the reach of pain and sorrow.
