I am researching the following names in Massena NY: SHERWOOD, PREMO,LEWISH,MURCH. My mother was born Inez M. SHERWOOD on 13 Mar 1929 in Massena, NY to Maude Pearl LAVIOLETTE and HAROLD AYERS SHERWOOD. Her brothers are: JOHN LEWIS SHERWOOD and GEORGE ROSS SHERWOOD. Inez SHERWOOD first married Sherman PREMO of Massena(or surrounding areas) in 1948. She had two sons, Melvyn and Phillip PREMO. She then married Herbert HARRINGTON of Syracuse, N.Y. and they had two children. I can't get very far back in history as my mom never knew any of her family history. Harold A. SHERWOOD was born 22 Oct 1904 in Cornwall Canada to WILLIAM SHERWOOD and HARRIET MURCH. He married MAUDE PEARL LAVIOLETTE in 1926 in Massena N.Y. I can find his family in 1910 & 1920 in Massena, N.Y.'s census so they must have settled in Massena when he was a young boy. His father, WILLIAM SHERWOOD was born 1878 in Cornwall Canada and died between 1917-1920 in Massena, N.Y. as a result of the flu. William SHERWOOD and HARRIET MURCH had the following children: Ethel b: 1901, William b: 1903 Harold b: 1904 Ernest b: 1908 Helen b: abt 1909-1910 Violet b: 1913 Paul b: 1915 Barbara b: 1917. By the 1920 census Harriet MURCH SHERWOOD is widowed with 8 children. HAROLD SHERWOOD died 1969 in Massena and his wife Maude P. Sherwood died in 1986. William SHERWOOD married Mabel(?) and ran a dairy farm. Ethel SHERWOOD married Sidney BROWN and lived in Massena to be quite elderly. Helen married ED LEWIS and lived her life in Massena. Barbara and Violet and Paul SHERWOOD moved to California and I don't know what became of ERNEST SHERWOOD. I have searched through Northern NY papers on the web and Newspaper Archives.com and haven't found anything on the aforementioned families. I would like to know any PREMO information for my 2 half brothers. Sherman's parents were Carl and Gladys PREMO. I would love to be able to get unstuck and find out any information on William SHERWOOD and Harriet MURCH so that I may go back in history on the family tree.
