    1. Re: POMEROY in Ogdensburg
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Pomeroy, Stone, Sheldon; also Andrus, Andrews, Barns Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2RB.2ACE/6834.3.1.1 Message Board Post: I am interested in Pomeroys in northern NY. Is it possible your Ogdensburg Pom's are related to mine? My ancestor, Silas Pomeroy b. 1764 passed through northern NY (Clinton County: Plattsburgh in the 1790s, owned land in Chateaugay until some time before 1810, and then ended up in Northumberland County, Ontario, by about 1811). I believe that all of his children moved with him. Silas' wife was Sarah Stone. Silas' half-brother, Abner 2nd Pomeroy b. 1782, was also in Clinton and Franklin Counties: Plattsburgh (1800) to Mooers (1810) to Malone to Ft. Covington, and finally to Massena in St. Lawrence County (1850 census). I know nothing of the children of Abner 2nd, and that is why your posting interests me. Is you Pomeroy ancestor linked to either Silas or Abner? The father of both Silas and Abner 2nd is Abner Pomeroy b. 1734. He came to Plattsburgh, NY after the Revolution and apparently died near there between 1810-1820. The older Abner supposedly had another son whose name was Oliver Pomeroy, b. 1762, and I do not know if he lived to adulthood, married, or had descendants. Abner had several daughters.
