Hi All I have enjoyed being a 'silent' member of this list for some time and thank you all for your many posts that are helping me learn the history of this area. My ancestor Isaac Tripp, went to Rossie after the War of 1812 and worked as labourer for George Parish. It seems he later worked on boats on the Great Lakes, family legend having it that he was a boat captain. He moved to Champion, Jefferson County, NY in the mid 1820s and lived there for the rest of his life I have not been able to trace his parents, though it is likely he was born in NY State, perhaps in Saratoga. I am wondering if any of the Tripp researchers have any records of an Isaac Tripp who marries a Jennette Lawson. Jennette's family were Scots who lived in Middleville Ontario, Canada.
