Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2RB.2ACE/8429.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: This is what I have on Chauncey Haverstock. Born in 1865, died in 1893 per headstone found in Fort Jackson -Hopkinton cemetery located near the back of the cemetery next to his wife Matilda Gonyea 1864-1896. He had a son Elwin Royal Haverstock that moved to Vermont. Elwin married an Ellen Harvey. This is where I found Chauncy's name and Matilda, listed as parents on Elwin's marriage certificate Chauncy's parents are Edmund and Polly Benjamin Haverstock, both buried in Massena on North River Raquette Rd. with multiple other family members. Edmund and Polly came from Nova Scotia. There were other siblings:Shadrach,Loue Jane,Fredereick,Mary A., Lucian G. and Laban H. Chauncy's name appears as Chauncy,Chauncey as well as Jason on one of the census. My mother told the story that grandpa once commented "What do you expect from a man hung as a horse thief?" Grandma was livid and it was never mentioned again. True tale or bad joke? I know that there was much from Loue Jane who lived in the Massena area until her death I believe in her late eighties or early nineties. I heard that someone kept a diary of family history but I cannot find out who or where to locate them. any help is appreciated.
