    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Pope, Polley Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2RB.2ACE/8424.3 Message Board Post: Hi Gerry, I received a message from Paul Kamalsky that you had posted a query in this forum. I am a descendant of Louisa Pope Polley, who was a daughter of Horatio Gates Pope and Eleanor (Ellen) S. Pohlman. Are you descended from Benjamin Franklin Pope, Louisa's brother? I know he moved to Tecumseh, Nebraska with his father and stepmother in the 1860's from Wisconsin. I have been hoping to get in touch with descendants of Louisa's family, A cousin of my mother threw out all the old letters and photos belonging to Louisa and Silas' son Frank Polley when he died in the 1950's. I have never seen a photo of Silas or Louisa and was hoping some family member might have one. Briefly, here is some information on Louisa and Silas' descendants: They had three children, Frank S. m. Marie Jacobi in Chicago 1890; Hattie m. William Gunderson Chicago; and Charles, of whom I have not been able to find any information. I also don't know much about Hattie other than what I found in the census. Frank S. Polley and Marie Jacobi had three children, Virginia m. Lambert Drenthe; Pauline m. Frank Grabert and Raymond m. Grace Schreuder. Raymond Polley and Grace Schreuder are my grandparents. Most of the descendants of this family still live in the Chicago area. My gggrandfather Silas H. Polley served 4 years in the Union Army in the Civil War; first in the 14th Illinois Infantry, then the 14th and 15th Veteran Battalion, and finally in the 135th USCT. Silas and Louisa were married by Rev. C.D. Pillsbury, who had served as a chaplain in Benjamin Franklin Pope's regiment (22nd WI, I think). I've always wondered how Silas and Louisa met. Silas was also born in NY, in Cortland Co. Did they meet in NY somehow, or in WI or in Illinois where they lived all their married lives? Laura Poll(e)y, Louisa's older sister, was married to a William Poll(e)y, but I have no idea if or how William was related to Silas. I have never been able to find Silas' family in NY. Do you (outside of Paul Kamalsky) already have any of this information on Louisa? I've always wondered if Louisa kept in touch with her father and brothers and sisters. I have more information on this family and some corrections to Paul's info. Please let me know if you need any more information and if there is any knowledge of Louisa & Silas in your family. Thank you, Barbara McDonald
