She was my Great Grandmother. Father's name was Fowler Swem - found him in the 1850 census living in Fowler, interesting enough - but nothing in the censuses before or after. Adele married Charles William Cheney in Wegatchee on 27 Aug. 1875. CW was working as a timber estimator in a logging camp at the time and family history has it that Adele was working as a cook at the camp. They had two children, Claude and Dewitt. This has been a dead end for me for quite a few years despite the fact that I knew Swems when I was growing up in Carthage. Don't know if they were related to us, though.
