Joseph was the son of Eliud Smith & his first wife, Betsey. Lydia was born in Pawlet, Rutland Co, VT. The source for this information came from the "History of Wells", Paul & Park 1869. Joseph & Lydia removed to St. Lawrence Co unknown time. I've tried the 1850 census; however, neither Joseph or Lydia appear in St Lawrence Co-- reason MIGHT be they've already deceased. Unknown whether Joseph & Lydia had any children of issue. Eluid Smith is the possible son of Elizur Smith who can be found in the 1810 Granville, Washington Co. NY census. Wife, Elizabeth is inter in the Taylor Hill cemetery, Granville. She died 1836 at age 74 yrs; b 1762. Elizure is NOT inter in this cemetery.
