    1. Re: [NYSTLAWR] death certificate
    2. Marilyn, If you listed your gg grandmother's someone might recognize the family and offer you assistance. Also the area of the county where she lived might be of help also. Hope you find some information concerning her and her family. It can be very frustrating hitting roadblocks in your searching. It was well beyond the 1880 benchmark for keeping vital records. I have gone to City Hall in Ogdensburg looking for this one and another one, also well beyond the time frame. I wasted $44 (because you pay for the search, not the finding of the document). I really wasted 2 days, plus the cost of the hotel accommodations since I found absolutely nothing that I was after. I spent an afternoon also in Canton in the center library, and while the employees were very helpful I found nothing I didn't already know. It wasn't really a waste because the area is beautiful, and from my room I had a wonderful view of the St. Lawrence River and I had some alone time, but I had planned on finding out things and then taking that information across the border to Canada to find out more. Who else might have records where I might find a death certificate. Someone suggested I look in Oswegatchie, but I drove through there and saw nothing that resembled a building where public records might be kept, just some random buildings, mostly farm houses and the like. Can someone help me? 1. Re: [NYSTLAWR] 1893 death certificate (McConkey)

    3. Sorry, I usually do list the surnames while doing online message boards but I just had a question regarding why I could not find a DC for her despite the fact it was 1893, 13 years past when NY began keeping records. The name I am looking for is McConkey. Her name was Mary Mathilde (Matilda) McConkey. She died in June of 1893. She was born in Canada, but I know she died in Ogdensburg (or Oswegatchie), so there is no mystery there.
